I'm Baaaaccckkkk!

Ok, so I haven't posted in FOREVER, but I have been super busy. Doing what, you ask. GETTING MARRIED!!!! Yep, my high school sweetheart of five years and I tied the knot this past July. It was beautiful, fun, emotional, and incredibly happy. I even had my splash of fabulosity with my zebra shoes and bouquet.

It has been quite an adjustment learning to live with him. Seriously, why can't we have zebra bedsheets? I don't get it. :) I have almost have everything set up in my new sewing/crafting/makeup/awesomeness area. It has been a challenge fitting all of our hobbies into our small space. Plus we can't decorate like I would want to because it is an apartment. I've gone from purple walls and turquoise zebra bedding, to white walls and his blue bachelor plaid bedding. (We'll see how long he holds out on the new zebra sheets) :)

I have big plans for this coming holiday season. It's kind of a lofty goal, but I'm planning on making every gift myself. The only bummer is I can't show you guys projects as I finish them. But I am planning on working on some baby stuff for my friend expecting her first baby girl next month. I'm thinking a pink leopard and lime green quilt. Luckily, she shares my love of animal prints and bright colors. lol Anyways, that's the update for now. Hopefully I'll have some new pics for ya'll in a bit. Toodles!

I made something!

Have you ever felt like sewing something but didn't know what to make? I was feeling restless tonight and knew I wanted to sew something, but 10:30pm is a little late to start on a garment. I was looking at the boring box my colored pencils and sharpies came in and thought, "Aha!" Thus this was born.

I know it isn't the most challenging thing ever created, but I'm still proud. Besides, I love anything leopard or zebra. In fact, I will be wearing zebra print heels at my wedding this July. But I digress. My pens and pencils (which I use to sketch my fashion ideas btw) have a funky new home. I'll probably add some type of embellishment later. I think JoAnns has a 50% off notion sale this weekend. Uh oh, dangerous. :) Next up, finishing the hem of my high waisted pin up polka dot skirt so I can show you all. Aloha!

Warning! Pattern P*rn

Well, I couldn't control myself. I went back for more patterns. I only bought seven, although the girl who works there is becoming my friend because she sees me all the time. The guy who rang me up yesterday was like, "More patterns!? Didn't you get like 30 yesterday?" Correction: I only got 13 yesterday. 11 the day before, and 7 today. So yes, as of tonight, I bought 30. What can I say, I'm stimulating the economy. Plus, I got to use the 40 percent off coupon to purchase a pair of dressmakers shears. I was on the fence about them because they were 32 dollars, but the coupon was a great deal. They're really shiny. (Sweeney Todd music is playing in my head as my shears sparkle in the light. lol) Anyways, I'm super excited about my new pattern collection so I decided to share some pictures. BTW, I'm pretty sure no one is reading (YET), but when I find a new blog, I tend to go the the beginning and work forward through the posts. Maybe someone will want to read my blog from the beginning one day. A blogger can dream... ;)

Now, for your viewing pleasure...

Here is the whole lot of them. Pretty! The green one at the bottom is the one for my sister that set off this pattern frenzy.

I'm totally digging the Hillary Duff collection. I guess that's why I got 9 of them. I feel like these are very stylish and not too difficult (with the exception of the coats). I particularly like the ruffle top and skirt set

More prettiness!

I was going to upload more smaller sets so they were easier to see, but it's taking an excruciatingly long time. So, here you are. The only problem is, now I have so many beautiful options I don't know which one to choose first. Any suggestions?

Pattern Binge

Ok, so yesterday I went to my local Jo-Ann's to pick up a "It's so easy it's Simplicity" pattern to make a spring dress for my baby sister. She is only two so I figured making a smaller dress might be easier than making an adult sized dress. Anyways, when I walked in I discovered they were having a 1.99 McCall's pattern sale and a 3.99 Vogue sale. Omg, I went nuts. Between yesterday and today, I bought 20 McCall patterns, 3 Vogue patterns, and that initial Simplicity pattern for my sister. Keep in mind, I still don't really know how to sew. I was starting to rethink all of it until I added up my savings. Drum roll, please.....over 350 dollars saved! Can you believe it? I got 400 dollars worth of patterns for about 50 dollars. All in all, I'm pretty happy with myself. I figure I have lots of inspiration now. With all these beautiful patterns calling my name, waiting to be sewn, I'll certainly not lack for something to sew. I bought a bunch of assorted difficulties too. From a pretty simple high-waisted skirt, to a winter coat that will require tailoring skills that way I'll have new challenging projects to work my way through. I think the most difficult thing now will be not going back and getting more tomorrow after work. :)

The First Post: Yay Sewing!

About a month ago I was bitten by the sewing bug. I don't even remember what inspired it, but all of a sudden I was pouring through sewing blogs, fabric websites, and oohing and ahhing over patterns. I've come across some wonderful and inspiring seamstresses. They make the most beautiful things but I'm also a little intimidated. I've yet to find a "beginner" blog that catches my interest. I'm 20 yrs old. I love glitter. I love cupcakes. I love drag queens. Since I haven't found a blog that kinda wraps all those aspects together (big order, I know...) I decided to create my own. Here I will record my eventual foray into the sewing world as I attempt to create fun, fabulous, and well fitting things. Enjoy.
