Pattern Porn

Hello bloggy friends! I'm back from stimulating the economy. :) What can I say, I can't resist a pattern sale, especially when I've been lusting after a particular pattern. I was able to get everything I wanted with the exception of two patterns. It was really annoying because I'm pretty sure they where sitting in the boxes stacked next to the pattern cabinets, just waiting to be unpacked. It was busy and grumpy husband was waiting in the car, so I didn't pursue it. Though I gotta say, if you're going to run a giant week long pattern sale, stock your merchandise. And leaving the boxes right there (so close but so far away) in sight of your customer is just mean.

Anyways, rant over. Back to the goodies. I initially went to pick up the Lisette Passport pattern, but hey, when they're only 1.99 I can totally find others to buy. :)

I picked up two of the other patterns, the Market and Traveler. I have a leopard cotton fabric that I think will work nicely with the Passport and Traveler dresses. I also thought it would make a nice Colette Patterns Crepe dress too. Decisions decisions. I meant to check out the Lisette fabric too, but grumpy husband and all that...next time I guess.

I was surprised how little fabric these patterns require. On a taller person I might be worried they'd be too short, but I guess there are benefits to being a 4'11 midget.

2250 only takes 2 yards of fabric for the shorter dress. I think I have 2 yards of blue striped seersucker that will work nicely. I'd originally purchased it to make some nautical inspired pants, but I've found I'm much happier in dresses.

Skirt C in 2215 only takes 1 1/2 yards for what seems like a fairly full skirt. I have a tendency to buy a yard of this or that so a nice full skirt that takes less yardage would be awesome for stash busting.

Sunni over at A Fashionable Stitch recently blogged about an adorable summer dress from Burda. I think if I did the bodice outer band of 2176 in a contrasting color, it would be really similar. I'm thinking either a red or navy with a white contrast. I think I have enough poplin in each color to work. Can you tell I'm still stuck on the nautical theme? :)

2359 had a bow. I'm pretty much a sucker for bows. I like the version they did with the green and white.

I'm off to file these away until I finish my Sorbetto top. Yeah, that didn't done in time for vacation. I'm almost done, just need to finish the inside seams, attach the bias binding (for the second time) and hem. It would go much quicker if I wasn't so damn OCD about the insides of my garments. I probably can get it finished by today, but I got sunburned and am in the gross peeling stage right now, so no pictures. lol

I hope everyone has a great rest of their weekend. Happy Father's Day to all the daddies out there. Though, mine is the best, just sayin' :) Aloha all!

  1. I just ordered Lisette 2246 and I'm waiting for it to arrive. Mine cost 20 bucks, once I included the shipping. So you should feel very good about your sale experience!

  2. I've gotten pretty spoiled with Joann's and their sales. I think the only time I've paid more than 3.99 is when I purchased my Sencha and Crepe patterns. I don't know what I'm going to do once I move. :(

Is the mail strike still going on in your area? I'd be pretty pissed to pay 20 bucks for a pattern and then have to wait forever for it.
