Why I love Sundays and a Sneak Peek of what I'm Sewing

What's up Bloggy friends?  I love Sundays.  I think they're my favorite day of the week.  Why?  Because you get to PLAN on Sundays.  Your week might've been complete crap, but on Sunday you get to prepare all your battle stations and make sure your next week is awesome.   This past week sucked.  Broken blender, fried crockpot, shattered dinner plate, THE PLAGUE!  And a postponed weekend trip because of said plague.  So, yeah.  Not the best week ever.  But that's ok, because tomorrow is the beginning of a new week and it better be fricken awesome, because I said so.  Here's what I'm excited about this week:

The Couture Dress- By Susan Khalje.  OMG, ya'll.  I was so excited when this popped up in my email.  I've heard of Susan Khalje, when Gertie blogged about her sewing workshops.  "Cool, but no way I could spend that much money." I thought.  Well, thanks to Craftsy, those awesome people, now for 40 bucks you get the wisdom and instruction of a woman who certainly knows her way around a sewing machine.  I've watched about an hour so far, and I can already say it's 40 bucks well spent.  Oh!  And you get a paper pattern mailed to your home.  I thought I'd be super impatient waiting for it to get here, but the practices she teaches can be applied to any sewing project.  Excellent course so far.  Also, the 40 bucks is a sale price, the class normally is 90, so get while it's hot, peeps.

Speaking of Craftsy courses, the teaser for Gertie's new course just hit my email.  Hopefully it comes out soon!

Sew Retro: The Starlet Suit Jacket
Gretchen Hirsch is back with another Craftsy Sew Retro class! This time she’s going to show you how to make a suit jacket to knock ‘em dead!

I'm enrolled in her Bombshell dress course, and have watched the majority of it.  I haven't sewn it yet, as I don't really have anywhere to wear it, and I'd like to lose some weight first.  However, Gertie is a wonderful teacher and makes everything seem so simple.  I don't know where a suit jacket would fit into my lifestyle, but I'll probably sign up anyway.  I'm sure I can always make it it leopard print. :)

Got a comment from a reader asking about the text color.  I've spent some time going through all my old posts and changing the font color to black.  For some reason, not all the posts are updating in Google Reader.  I have no idea what the problem is.  If you go to the blog itself, the text is black, so I'm not sure what the deal is.  I hope it's not too annoying and I'll try and get it fixed soon.  Hi, new readers!

With two days left in January, I'm thinking back on my New Year goals post.  The plan of attack was 1 Colette Patterns garment, 1 other of my choice.  I've sewn the choice item.  You can see that HERE, if you haven't already.  I've almost finished the other item.  Here's a sneak peek.

Can you guess what it is?  That right there is the cause of some pretty foul language in my sewing room.  I made the bias tape myself, and while I LOVE the look of the different polka dots, it was a frickin pain in the ass.  Which is why I still have the armholes and hem to do.  Hopefully I should be done tomorrow.  Look for a reveal post soon. :)

What's on your sewing table this week?  And why is your week going to be awesome?

  1. That's a great way of thinking about Sundays. Most people think "urgh, have to go to work tomorrow", but planning how to make the next week exciting is definitely a more constructive approach. Thanks for the inspiration!
